BENEFITS OF RECYCLING
Recycling Reduces Landfill Space
Each year we are producing more waste and most of it is hauled off and buried in landfills. Recycling reduces the amount of waste that is landfilled.
Recycling Reduces Waste Disposal Costs
Recycling reduces landfill costs because less waste is landfilled which means less tipping fees paid. |
|
Recycling Saves Energy
In most cases it takes less energy to make a product from recycled materials than it does to make it from new
materials. One exception is plastics which sometimes take more energy to recycle than it does to use all new materials.
Recycling Saves Natural Resources
By using materials more than once, we conserve natural resources such as land, plants, minerals, and water.
Recycling Reduces Air and Water Pollution
Using aluminum scrap to make new aluminum products cuts air and water pollution by 95 percent.
Recycling Creates Jobs
Recycling is estimated to create over four times as many jobs as waste disposal.
